Hello everyone! My name is Alex Scherman. I’m a wife and professional dog trainer specializing in upland hunting and obedience, and the handler of our mold detection dog, Mesa.

Mesa truly changed our lives, and I’ll tell our story to anyone willing to listen.

After returning home from training with our mold dog trainer, Bill Whitstine, Mesa came back a completely different dog. I watched her move through our home on her own, carefully inspecting walls, air vents, furniture, beds, and bathrooms. As I observed her working, alarm bells started going off in my head. Goosebumps covered my arms as I watched her alert, look at me, and then look back at the source she was indicating.

That’s when it hit me: we were living with mold in our home.

Mesa doesn’t just help our clients during inspections, she helped our family first, and I’ll always be grateful for that.

Fun fact about Mesa and I: Mesa was the very first bird dog I ever trained. It feels fitting that she and I would learn an entirely new discipline together. Watching her grow into this role has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
